ATLANTA, GEORGIA – Bomi County Senator Edwin Snowe and senior ECOWAS parliamentarian has highlighted the importance of political dialogue and national unity following a meeting with opposition political leader Alexander B. Cummings in Atlanta, Georgia.

Snowe said he recently spent time with Cummings at his residence, where the two opposition figures held what he described as a lengthy, frank and meaningful discussion about Liberia and the challenges confronting the country.
Although Snowe and Cummings come from different political backgrounds and belong to different opposition political parties, Snowe said their engagement reinforced his belief that political differences should never outweigh their shared responsibility to Liberia.
According to Snowe, the discussion focused extensively on the need for Liberian leaders and others with influence to rise above partisan interests whenever the national interest is at stake.
He acknowledged that politicians may belong to different institutions, support different causes and disagree on how Liberia should move forward, but said they should remain united in their desire to see the country succeed.
Snowe stressed that Liberia’s democracy requires space for dialogue, mutual respect and engagement across political lines, arguing that democracy is strengthened when political actors are willing to engage those with whom they disagree.
He said political leaders should be prepared to exchange ideas, acknowledge their differences and identify areas where they can work together in the interest of the Liberian people.
“Liberia belongs to all of us. No political party, government, opposition, individual, or group can build the country alone,” Snowe said, emphasizing that nation-building requires the collective efforts of Liberians regardless of political affiliation or personal interests.
The Bomi County Senator also expressed appreciation to Cummings for receiving him at his home and for what he described as exceptional hospitality during his visit.
Snowe said the meeting demonstrated that political disagreements do not have to prevent meaningful relationships and constructive national conversations.
He thanked Cummings for the hospitality, friendship and frank exchange on Liberia’s future, stressing that despite their political differences, both men must remain committed to putting the country first.
“We may not always agree politically, but on one thing we must remain united: Liberia must always come first,” Snowe said.
