MONROVIA – Suspended Deputy Superintendent of the Monrovia Central Prison (MCP), Jackson K. Kolako, has raised fresh security concerns following reports that an unidentified boat allegedly docked behind the facility without any visible crew members.

The strange sighting near the South Beach area has revived warnings Kolako previously issued regarding a possible organized jailbreak, particularly given the facility’s detention of high-profile suspects linked to a multimillion-dollar drug investigation.
Addressing the recent incident, Kolako emphasized the urgent need for heightened vigilance and strategic tactical shifts.
“When the security environment changes, our approach to security must also change,” Kolako warned. “Correctional facilities housing individuals connected to sensitive and high-profile investigations require utmost preparedness, coordination, vigilance, and professionalism.”
Kolako recalled his earlier recommendations to transfer inmates involved in sensitive cases to a higher-security location away from the coastline.
While that transfer was not fully executed, he acknowledged recent steps taken to fortify the perimeter
“I was encouraged by the subsequent strengthening of security at MCP,” Kolako stated, specifically praising the joint operations between local authorities. “The deployment of additional Liberia National Police (LNP) personnel and the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) alongside our correctional officers demonstrates the vital importance of enhanced security cooperation.”
Despite the public anxiety generated by the vessel’s unexpected appearance, security authorities have not yet issued an official statement clarifying the circumstances surrounding the boat or confirming any direct link to a criminal plot.
