In a statement issued on October 31, the party said the decision to bring the congress forward was intended to strengthen internal democracy, address outstanding leadership and organizational matters, advance institutional reforms and prepare the party for future challenges.

The CDC described the congress as its highest forum for reviewing leadership, restructuring the organization, considering policy and making strategic decisions about the party’s direction.

The party said it had formally notified Liberia’s National Elections Commission of the revised schedule, in accordance with its constitution, bylaws and electoral guidelines.

National Secretary General Jefferson Tamba Koijee has been appointed to lead planning and preparations.

The party said the membership of the Congress Planning Committee would be announced later.

The CDC urged party leaders, county chapters, auxiliary structures, delegates and other stakeholders to begin preparing for the event.

Information on delegate accreditation, the program and logistics will be shared through official party channels, the statement said.

The party also reaffirmed its commitment to constitutional governance, transparency, inclusiveness, institutional discipline and the peaceful exercise of internal democracy.
