MONROVIA – The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MYS) has launched an administrative investigation into allegations that application forms for its Small Scale Grants for Market Vendors (SCGMV) Program were being sold illegally at two youth centers, warning that the forms are free of charge and should never be sold.

The investigation follows reports of the unauthorized sale of application forms at the Ganta Youth Center in Nimba County and the Tubmanburg Youth Center in Bomi County.
In a statement, the Ministry said it has taken the allegations seriously and is committed to determining the full facts surrounding the reported incidents.
According to the Ministry, the investigation will examine the conduct of individuals allegedly involved in collecting payments, the circumstances under which the payments were made, and whether established procedures governing the implementation of the grant program were violated.
“The Ministry wishes to make it unequivocally clear that application forms for the SCGMV Program are free of charge and should be distributed to prospective beneficiaries without any payment,” the statement emphasized.
Authorities assured the public that the investigation would be conducted thoroughly and fairly. The Ministry warned that anyone found responsible for violating administrative procedures or regulations would face appropriate disciplinary action.
The Ministry also directed that no applicant should pay for an SCGMV application form at any youth center across Liberia. It urged members of the public to report any attempt by individuals to demand payment for the forms or engage in any other unauthorized activities related to the program.
The SCGMV Program is intended to support young people and market vendors through small-scale grant assistance, and the Ministry said it remains committed to ensuring that the initiative is implemented transparently and fairly.
The Ministry further reaffirmed its commitment to accountability and protecting the integrity of government programs designed to benefit vulnerable Liberians. It thanked the public for its cooperation and said appropriate actions would be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.
