MONROVIA – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has urged Liberia’s security forces to remain resolute in the fight against illicit drugs, stressing that his administration will not retreat from efforts to disrupt drug trafficking, strengthen national security and protect the country’s borders.

Speaking Thursday at the 23rd Cabinet Meeting, President Boakai declared: “We are not stopping. We will continue to fight for this country.”
He called on security institutions to intensify efforts against drug trafficking while tightening security along Liberia’s borders.
The President said the country’s response to the drug problem must go beyond the seizure of narcotics, arguing that effective border control is essential to preventing trafficking and protecting Liberia’s national interests.
President Calls for Professionalism Among Security Forces
President Boakai urged security institutions to strengthen coordination and exercise sound judgment, professionalism and integrity in carrying out their responsibilities.
He cautioned security officials not to be intimidated by criticism or external pressure when making decisions within their professional responsibilities.
The President said officials who violate the law must face appropriate measures, while those entrusted with protecting the country must act with honesty and a clear mind.
Boakai Highlights Government’s Progress
The President also highlighted what he described as progress under his administration, pointing to developments in healthcare, the payment of government salaries and infrastructure.
He commended ministers and civil servants for their sacrifices and encouraged Cabinet members to maintain a stronger public presence at national events.
President Boakai noted that their participation demonstrates institutional support for government programmes and national achievements.
Road Infrastructure Remains a Priority
On infrastructure, President Boakai stressed the importance of connecting communities and counties through improved road networks.
He noted progress on the road toward Côte d’Ivoire but called for particular attention to the road project leading to Roberts International Airport. He said the implementation of critical infrastructure projects would remain under close government review.
President Boakai said Liberia’s development requires collective effort, cooperation and a shared commitment to national progress.
He urged Liberians to continue supporting the country’s development efforts as his administration remains focused on delivering tangible results and improving the lives of citizens under the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development.
