Women’s National Team Commended for Historic WAFU-A Performance

MONROVIA – In a moment of national pride and recognition, Liberia’s Ambassador-at-Large for Youth and Sports Development, Alioune Kebe, on Tuesday, June 10, presented a cash reward of LRD 500,000 to the Senior Women’s National Football Team.

The gesture was made in celebration of the team’s remarkable third-place finish at the 2025 WAFU-A Women’s Cup held in Mauritania.

The presentation ceremony was held in Monrovia, drawing the attention of sports officials, youth leaders, and members of the public.

Ambassador Kebe praised the team for their resilience, discipline, and the pride they brought to Liberia on the international stage.

The 2025 WAFU-A Women’s Cup saw fierce competition among West African nations, with Liberia emerging as a formidable force.

Their third-place victory marks a significant milestone in the ongoing development of women’s football in the country and underscores the growing influence of female athletes in the national sports arena.

The players expressed gratitude for the support while some of them emphasized the importance of continued investment in women’s sports.
