NIMBA – Representative Musa Bility’s Citizens Movement for Change (CMC) has conceded an early defeat in less than a day after the conduct of the by-election in Nimba County.
In a statement issued on Tuesday night, the CMC Based on credible data gathered from the CMC War Room, it is evident that Hon. Samuel Kogar holds an unassailable lead in the ongoing Nimba County by-election.
“While we await the official pronouncement of results by the National Elections Commission (NEC), we take no pleasure in denying what is clear: the people of Nimba have voted to maintain the status quo by electing the candidate of the MDR, backed by the Unity Party alliance.” The statement said.
The party said without prejudice to the NEC’s official declaration, it extends congratulations to the Unity Party alliance and Hon. Kogar for what appears to be a healthy and well-fought victory.
“While we hoped the people would have made a different choice, we fully respect their democratic right to choose. Despite the harsh realities faced by many of our people—poverty, poor infrastructure, and lack of opportunity—they have kept faith with the current leadership.”
According to the CMC, the people of Nimba deserve more, and urged the UP alliance to return their trust with tangible and lasting results.
The CMC said it is proud to have contested this by-election with clarity, dignity, and purpose.
“We stood not just against a candidate, but against two powerful political alliances—one backed by the full weight of the sitting government, and the other backed by two former Presidents, a former Vice President, and a former Presidential Candidate.”
