LOFA COUNTY – The Ministry of Justice has successfully concluded a three-day Quarterly Training Workshop for prosecutors from across Liberia’s fifteen counties.
The training, which began on Thursday, May 1, 2025, took place in Voinjama City and brought together county attorneys.
Speaking to this paper at the conclusion of the workshop, Liberia’s Solicitor General, Cllr. Augustine C. Fayiah, stated that the training aimed to identify challenges faced by prosecutors that need to be addressed by the national government through the Ministry of Justice.
He noted several key challenges highlighted by the prosecutors, including lack of personnel in their offices, insufficient resources for their work, and the need to address emerging crimes.
Cllr. Fayiah emphasized the importance of providing support for prosecutors, who are vital players in the justice system.
He explained that it was from that backdrop the Attorney General of Liberia and the Minister of Justice organized the training workshop for the prosecutors.
“All challenges outlined by participants during the training will be documented by the Ministry of Justice, SG Fayiah said.
Regarding the issue of overcrowding in prison facilities across the country, the Solicitor General called for the establishment of probation services for individuals committing minor crimes.
