GBARNGA – CB Dunbar Maternity Hospital has reported a suspected case of Mpox, according to the facility’s Medical Director, Dr. Moses Beyan.
Dr. Beyan confirmed that the patient—a female whose identity has not been disclosed—has been under medical observation in the hospital’s isolation center for the past three days.
“We have a dedicated medical team managing her condition and ensuring all safety protocols are followed,” Dr. Beyan said. “We urge the public to remain calm as we continue to monitor the situation.”
The hospital is currently awaiting laboratory test results to confirm whether the case is positive or negative. Dr. Beyan noted that CB Dunbar is in close coordination with national health authorities and is prepared to take further action based on the test outcome.
Mpox, formerly known as Monkeypox, is a viral illness with symptoms similar to smallpox, including fever, rash, and swollen lymph nodes, though generally less severe.
Health officials are encouraging the public to remain vigilant, report any unusual symptoms, and continue practicing good hygiene to help limit potential spread.
