Monrovia, Liberia – The stage is now set for the grand finale of the 2025 Intra-Governmental League, with the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) and the Maritime Authority advancing to the football championship match in what promises to be a thrilling showdown of government sector pride and athletic rivalry.
Last Friday, in what was dubbed the “Clash of the Titans,” the Spectrum of LTA edged out the Ministry of Youth and Sports with a hard-fought 2-1 victory.
The match, held under intense anticipation, was marked by moments of brilliance and controversy.
Despite the win, LTA captain Patrick Honnah expressed serious dissatisfaction with the officiating, calling into question the fairness of the referees.
This marks the first time in the league’s history that the LTA has made it to the final stage—an achievement widely celebrated by its supporters.
Meanwhile, Maritime Authority, the defending champions, cruised past the Ministry of State with a commanding 4-2 victory.
Though initially hailed as one of the most anticipated matches of the tournament, the game lost its spark after Maritime scored four unanswered goals, leaving spectators disappointed in what became a one-sided affair.
Kickball Category: NLA and Youth & Sports Girls Advance
In the kickball division, the National Lottery Authority (NLA) delivered a dominant performance, crushing the Judiciary with an 8-0 home run sweep to secure a spot in the final.
In the other semi-final, it was a much closer contest as the girls of Youth and Sports narrowly defeated LPRC with a 6-5 victory, ensuring their place in the final showdown.
Finals Set for Friday
Organizers have confirmed that the grand finale of both football and kickball competitions will take place on Friday, July 11, 2025, at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex.
With the championship titles up for grabs, all eyes are now on the final matchups to determine who will be crowned champions of the 2025 Intra-Governmental League.
