Tubmanburg – In a bid to improve road connectivity and ease transportation for citizens in Western Liberia, the Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Public Works and in collaboration with Bea Mountain Mining Company, has officially commenced the rehabilitation and repair of the Klay–Monrovia road corridor.

The roadwork, which began on Sunday, July 20, 2025, is expected to significantly reduce travel time, minimize vehicle damage, and improve access to essential services for residents of Bomi, Grand Cape Mount, and Gbarpolu counties.

According to Hon. Margret Sarsih, Assistant Minister for Operations at the Ministry of Public Works, the project is part of a broader government initiative to address the country’s deteriorating road network, especially in areas heavily impacted during the rainy season.

Hon. Sarsih revealed that the rehabilitation exercise is scheduled to last two weeks, with a focus on critical sections stretching from the St. Paul Bridge to Klay.

She assured the public that the government is dedicating maximum effort and resources to alleviate transportation challenges in Western Liberia.

She also commended Bea Mountain Mining Company for their collaboration and continued support of national development, highlighting the vital role of public-private partnerships.

Meanwhile, the Manager for Community & Government Relations at Bea Mountain Mining Company reaffirmed the company’s commitment to infrastructure development in Liberia and its operational areas, describing the initiative as part of their corporate social responsibility.

Speaking at the event, Grand Cape Mount County Superintendent Hon. Folley Kiatamba praised the company’s intervention, describing the road project as a timely and welcome development for the people of Western Liberia.

He emphasized that the rehabilitation will significantly alleviate transportation difficulties currently faced by citizens in the region.

The project will be executed in phases, with the first phase focusing on critical sections along the Klay–Monrovia corridor.
