LFA Suspends Determine Girls FC President Grace Weah Over Alleged Protocol Breach

By: Perry B. Zordyu

MONROVIA – The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has suspended Grace Hawa Weah, commonly known as Master Queen, president of Determine Girls Football Club, from all football-related activities pending an investigation by its Ethics Committee.

Weah is accused of violating LFA protocols during the recent WAFU Zone A Women’s Champions League in Senegal.

According to the LFA, she allegedly disregarded official instructions and issued three fake travel tickets to the appointed Head of Delegation, Madam Rochell Woodson, leaving her stranded at Roberts International Airport.

The LFA said her actions contravened Article 18.3(A), Chapter 12 of the 2018 Revised Statutes, and brought the Association into public disrepute.

As a result, Weah is barred from participating in football activities and prohibited from entering football facilities in Liberia while the matter is under investigation.

In response, Madam Weah has rejected the decision, describing it as unlawful, unjust, and a violation of the LFA Statutes. In a letter dated September 18, 2025, she argued that the cited provisions apply only to member clubs and associations—legal entities of the LFA—and not to individual officials.

“Determine Girls FC is a duly registered corporation under Liberian law and is the recognized member of the LFA. As its President, I serve in an official capacity, but I am not myself a ‘member’ under Article 18.3(A).

Therefore, my personal suspension under a provision that applies only to clubs is both legally and procedurally flawed,” she said.

Weah also accused the LFA Secretariat of overstepping its mandate by imposing punitive sanctions without proper referral to the judicial bodies of the Association, namely the Ethics, Disciplinary, and Appeals Committees.

“The Secretariat’s role is strictly administrative. By issuing a suspension prior to any judicial inquiry, the Secretariat has usurped the authority of the Ethics Committee and violated principles of fairness, impartiality, and natural justice,” she argued.

While reaffirming her willingness to cooperate with the Ethics Committee, Weah condemned what she described as an attempt to tarnish her reputation and undermine her leadership.

“This is a clear case of being wrongly targeted. I reject this decision in its entirety and call on the LFA to immediately withdraw the unlawful suspension and allow the proper statutory process to take its course,” she said.

Football analysts say the suspension could potentially affect her participation in the upcoming LFA elections.
