Fake Doctor Sentenced to Life for Botched Surgery in Monrovia

By: Staff Writer

Temple of Justice – Criminal Court “B” Judge Wesseh A. Wesseh has sentenced Sam Wolobah, a fake medical doctor, to life imprisonment for causing the death of a patient during an unauthorized surgery.

Wolobah was arrested and indicted during the May 2025 Term of Court after performing a fatal operation at his unlicensed clinic in Jacob Town, Monrovia.

According to court records, on March 18, 2025, the family of the late Samuel Kollie took him to Wolobah’s clinic in Lofa Community, Jacob Town.

After a physical examination, Wolobah falsely diagnosed Kollie with appendicitis and Hepatitis B.

He then told the family that an urgent surgery was required, demanding US$275. The fee was later reduced to US$225 following negotiations.

Wolobah carried out the surgery on March 19, 2025. The patient developed severe complications the following day while under his care and later died.

The jury initially found Wolobah guilty of the crime, but his motion for a new trial was denied.

On Wednesday, Judge Wesseh upheld the jury’s verdict and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
