Sinoe County – Heavy rainfall early Sunday morning caused significant flooding along the main road connecting Greenville to Murrayville Township, leaving hundreds of commuters stranded and severely disrupting movement in the area.
Eyewitnesses and local residents report that floodwaters have made the road nearly impassable for vehicles, motorcyclists, and pedestrians.
Many students and workers attempting to reach Greenville Monday morning were left waiting for hours or forced to seek alternative routes.
Community members say the flooding resulted from hours of continuous downpour, which caused nearby creeks to overflow onto the main thoroughfare.
Amid the disruption, some locals reportedly charged pedestrians 50 Liberian dollars for assistance crossing the water using sticks for support, while motorcyclists were asked to pay 200 Liberian dollars to have their bikes pushed through the flooded section.
Residents are appealing to local authorities and the Ministry of Public Works to act swiftly, emphasizing that the Greenville–Murrayville road is a crucial route for trade, education, and access to essential services.
