MONROVIA – Opposition lawmaker and critic of the Liberian Government, Representative Musa Hassan Bility, has commended the administration of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai for the diplomatic efforts that led to the restoration of Liberia’s U.S. visa status to its pre-war level.

The United States Department of State recently revised its visa reciprocity schedule for Liberia, extending the validity period for certain non-immigrant visas from 12 months to 36 months. In a statement issued on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, the U.S. Government announced that Liberian applicants for B1 (Business), B2 (Tourism), and B1/B2 (Business/Tourism) visas will now receive multiple-entry visas valid for three years, with no reciprocity fee attached.

Welcoming the decision, the Citizens Movement for Change (CMC) Political Leader expressed appreciation to Foreign Affairs Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti, praising what he described as her professionalism, focus, and patriotism in helping secure the restored visa status.

“This development is a reflection of the quiet but consistent work of the Minister and her team, carried out with discipline and national commitment,” Rep. Bility stated. “Despite distractions and internal challenges, she has stayed the course, representing Liberia’s interests with clarity and conviction.”

Rep. Bility also acknowledged President Boakai’s role in the diplomatic success, emphasizing the importance of coordination between leadership and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“I also recognize the support and cooperation of the Government of Liberia under the leadership of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, whose endorsement of this diplomatic process helped bring this outcome to fruition,” he noted. “Effective diplomacy requires collective will, and this result is evidence of coordination between leadership and professionalism.”

The Nimba County lawmaker further extended appreciation to the U.S. Government and people for what he called “this forward-looking decision,” saying it reflects renewed confidence in Liberia’s democratic institutions and its prospects for growth and stability.

“This moment is not a political triumph; it is a national milestone,” Bility said. “When leadership is exercised with sincerity and focus, Liberia earns respect. This is an example of what is possible when public service is guided by commitment to country rather than politics.”

He called on Liberians to take pride in the achievement and remain committed to national unity, teamwork, and integrity.
