Monrovia, Liberia – The President-elect of the Federation of Liberian Youth (FLY), Ernest Duku Jallah, has issued a strong call for unity among young people across Liberia, urging them to put past divisions behind and work together for the collective good of the nation’s youth.
Jallah’s appeal comes just months after the highly contested 2025 FLY elections, which sparked widespread disagreements within the youth community.
The electoral process was marked by controversy and legal challenges, with some presidential candidates and their supporters alleging irregularities, bias, and illegal handling of the process.

Despite the disputes, documents in the possession of Liberia Excellent News Network (LENN) confirm that the Ministry of Youth and Sports has officially recognized Ernest Duku Jallah as President-elect of the umbrella youth organization.
Speaking in an interview with LENN early Monday, January 19, 2026, Jallah emphasized that the election period has ended and that it is time for young Liberians to unite and confront the challenges facing their demographic, particularly unemployment and limited opportunities.
“I want to use this opportunity to call on the young people from across the 15 counties to come together. The election is over. The Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Government of Liberia have officially recognized our leadership, and we have to stop fighting,” Jallah said.
He stressed that unity is essential to advancing the national youth agenda, noting that Liberia’s youthful population continues to grapple with unemployment, lack of opportunities, drug abuse, and other social challenges.
“We need to come together to deliver on the national youth agenda, because our demography faces huge issues—from unemployment to opportunity crises, drug crises, and many other challenges,” he added.
According to Jallah, resolving these problems requires collective effort and cooperation among young people, regardless of past political differences.
“I know there are still hard feelings and contentions, but this matter has been definitively resolved, and we have a responsibility to work together,” he stated.
The FLY President-elect further disclosed plans to reach out to colleagues who still hold mixed reactions about the 2025 electoral process, with the aim of reconciling differences and fostering unity within the organization.
“This is mainly a call for unity, a call for cohesion, and a call for inclusiveness. I may be the one elected as FLY’s President, but I cannot do it alone,” Jallah concluded.
