During the meetings, Ms. Akoto clarified that the Corruption Risk Assessment is not an investigation, but a preventive tool aimed at identifying institutional vulnerabilities.
She explained that the exercise seeks to enhance internal systems, policies, and structures to curb corruption before it occurs.
The initiative is grounded in Part IV, Section H of the LACC Act, which empowers the Commission to advise and assist both public and private institutions in designing procedures and systems that reduce the likelihood of corrupt practices.
Mr. Tommy emphasized that the goal of the assessments is early intervention. “Where internal policies contradict the law or create loopholes, the LACC will provide formal recommendations for immediate improvement,” he stated.
Administrations of both the CDA and NLA welcomed the initiative, expressing their commitment to the assessment process as a vital step toward strengthening institutional integrity and accountability.
