MONROVIA– The Liberia Maritime Authority (LiMA) has expressed strong support for recent diplomatic initiatives by China aimed at restoring stability and ensuring freedom of navigation in the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
The announcement follows a courtesy visit by LiMA Commissioner/CEO, Cllr. Neto Zarzar Lighe Sr, to the Embassy of China in Monrovia.

During the engagement, discussions focused on rising concerns over maritime safety in the Strait of Hormuz and nearby shipping corridors.
The dialogue highlighted ongoing peace efforts to de-escalate tensions and protect vital international shipping lanes that serve as lifelines for global trade.
“Thousands of vessels under the Liberian registry rely on these critical sea lanes,” Commissioner Lighe noted, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding commercial ships and the crews aboard them. He reaffirmed Liberia’s commitment to international maritime safety standards and stressed that stability in the region is crucial not only for global commerce but also for the protection of seafarers.
LiMA’s statement underscores the authority’s full support for diplomatic measures aimed at protecting international shipping and ensuring safe passage across all global maritime routes.
The agency reaffirmed its readiness to collaborate with international partners to maintain maritime security and uninterrupted trade.
“The Liberia Maritime Authority remains steadfast in its mission to safeguard maritime navigation and uphold international safety protocols,” the statement added.
