Mr. Weedor brings 16 years of distinguished service at the NEC, including his tenure as Co-Chair, earning a reputation for professionalism, transparency, and dedication.

His depth of experience and institutional knowledge, LINU says, uniquely position him to strengthen the independence and impartiality of the NEC, reinforcing public trust in Liberia’s electoral process.

Dr. Clarence K. Moniba, Political Leader of LINU, emphasized the importance of strong leadership during this critical period:

“The NEC faces significant challenges, and credible leadership is needed now more than ever. Elections serve as the foundation of Liberia’s development, and we are confident that this nomination reflects a sound decision based on merit. Mr. Weedor’s unwavering commitment to the service of our nation will undoubtedly strengthen the NEC.”

Dr. Moniba also addressed criticisms regarding other qualified candidates, stating:

“Regardless of the criticism going around that there are many qualified people in Liberia—there is absolutely no one better qualified than Jonathan Weedor, at this moment, to lead the Commission. Let us not politicize everything. As members of the opposition, when something is good for our nation, we must be willing to acknowledge and support it.”

LINU is urging the Liberian Senate to provide prompt and favorable consideration of Mr. Weedor’s nomination, enabling him to assume office without delay and lead the NEC with integrity and excellence.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening democratic institutions and supporting leadership that advances the collective interests of the Liberian people.
