This is due to the pivotal roles they play in the country’s growth and development. She has pledged to transform the prevailing narrative surrounding young individuals and to actively advance the president’s development agenda, which aims to significantly impact the lives of youth throughout the nation.

Speaking during her engagement with a cross-section of youth groupings in Behwean City, Trehn Statutory District, the Ministry of Youth and Sports Minister, Attorney Cornelia Wonkerleh Kruah, reminded the Grand Kru youth that Technical Vocational Education is not an alternative, especially for young people in rural Liberia.

She defined TVET as a priority for people living outside of urban Liberia to creating job opportunities for themselves and preparing for the future job market.

Attorney Kruah highlighted that the central government has recognized youth development as a matter of national urgency and is diligently working to honor its pledges made to the nation’s young population.

She stated that the new leadership within the Ministry of Youth and Sports is committed to working collaboratively to transform the Technical Vocational Institutions across the nation.

The goal is to shift their focus from being politically driven entities to becoming centers dedicated to enhancing the lives of the youth in Grand Kru County.

She emphasized that a primary focus of the Ministry is the development of talent among young people, with an emphasis on documenting and promoting the rich history of Grand Kru, particularly in nurturing potential high-caliber athletes.

This includes celebrating the legacy of George Manneh Weah, who is internationally recognized as an iconic football legend. Grand Kru is recognized as the county that pioneered sports in Liberia, yet it lacks something as fundamental as a playing field.

Despite some of the county’s individuals rising to prominence, Minister Kruah expressed that this situation is both disheartening and a profound disappointment.

She assured the county’s residents that the current administration, under the leadership of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, is dedicated to working collaboratively with the Ministry, the Liberia Football Association, and local authorities to develop a cutting-edge sports stadium in Grand Kru.
