The LNP said that during preliminary police investigations, both individuals admitted to being in possession of NSA identification cards while confirming that they are not employees or authorized personnel of the National Security Agency.
The investigation is focused on the circumstances surrounding the possession and alleged use of the identification cards, including whether any acts of impersonation or misrepresentation were committed.
“The Liberia National Police considers the unauthorized possession, use, or misrepresentation of official security credentials a serious matter that may undermine public confidence, compromise institutional integrity, and pose potential security risks,” a statement said.
According to the LNP, the suspects remain under active investigation pending the outcome of ongoing inquiries. “The Liberia National Police emphasizes that the individuals remain presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.”
The LNP assured the public that the matter is being handled in accordance with due process and the laws of the Republic of Liberia.
“The public is further encouraged to rely on verified information released through official Liberia National Police communication channels and to refrain from speculation or the circulation of unverified claims,” according to the police statement.
