According to reports, the Ministry of Youth and Sports had scheduled matches under its ongoing Unity and Peace Tournament at the venue.
However, the CDC had also reportedly reserved the field for activities marking the party’s 22nd anniversary and Militant Month celebrations.
The dispute reportedly began when organizers of the Unity and Peace Tournament arrived at the field and found CDC supporters erecting a stage for their day-long program.
Some bystanders, mainly CDC supporters, accused Senator Zoe Emmanuel Pennue of orchestrating the confrontation. However, there has been no independent verification of the allegation, and the senator has not publicly responded.
Earlier this week, the Chairman of the CDC’s Grand Gedeh County chapter accused Senator Pennue and Vice President Jeremiah Koung of plotting to disrupt the party’s anniversary celebrations.
The Office of Vice President Jeremiah Koung has since dismissed the allegations, describing them as false and misleading.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or arrests, and it remains unclear whether authorities have intervened to resolve the dispute.
