Former Rep. Yekeh Kolubah Declares Presidential Ambition for 2029 Elections

MONROVIA – Former Montserrado County District #10 Representative Yekeh Kolubah has declared his intention to contest Liberia’s presidency in the 2029 general elections, months after his expulsion from the House of Representatives over controversial remarks concerning a disputed border area between Liberia and Guinea.

Yekeh denied having dialogue with President Boakai as it is being speculated on several news alerts.

‎‎”My public relations officer called me when I was in Ghana, saying Facebook is asking what’s on your mind, and I instructed him to post that I am reconciling with President Boakai to see how the opposition will react”.

‎Kolubah alleged that former Liberian President George Weah uses his radio station to say negative things about his character.

‎‎”I expected Weah and Fonati Koffa to have known me better, but unfortunately they have started fighting me; I will fight them till they know what Yekeh can do”.

‎The House expelled Kolubah in April 2026 following a complaint filed by Montserrado County District #3 Representative Sumo Mulbah. The complaint stemmed from Kolubah’s reported statement that disputed land in the Sorlumba area of Lofa County belonged to Guinea.

‎‎The House Committee on Rules, Order and Administration concluded that his remarks undermined Liberia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Forty-nine lawmakers voted in favor of his expulsion.

‎‎The decision, however, attracted criticism from some political and legal figures who questioned the process leading to his removal.

‎Despite the controversy surrounding his departure from the Legislature, Kolubah is now setting his sights on the presidency.

‎He has also indicated that he would be willing to work with the ruling Unity Party government if he concludes that opposition leaders are not acting in the best interests of the Liberian people.

‎‎His position suggests that his approach to political cooperation ahead of 2029 could depend on his assessment of whether opposition forces are effectively advancing the interests of ordinary Liberians.
