Rep. Emmanuel Dahn Urges LFA to Support Montserrado District League

Paynesville Montserrado County District #7 Representative Emmanuel Dahn has called on the Liberia Football Association (LFA) to provide financial support to the ongoing Montserrado District League, saying lawmakers should not bear the sole responsibility for team funding.

Speaking after District #7’s 1-1 draw with District #1 on Thursday evening at the SKD Practice Pitch, Rep. Dahn described the current funding situation as “challenging, tedious, and costly.”

Lawmakers Overwhelmed by Financial Pressure

According to Rep. Dahn, lawmakers are under pressure to cover team expenses, often without sufficient resources to do so.

“The burden is solely on us. Sometimes, we are not in the position to finance our teams, and that’s why some districts are struggling,” he said. “The LFA should take on some level of responsibility. We can’t do it alone.”

He added that with proper financial backing, all 17 districts in Montserrado County would be able to participate in the tournament fully and without excuse.

District League Builds Unity and Player Exposure

Despite the financial strain, Rep. Dahn praised the league’s importance, noting it fosters unity, keeps players active during club off-seasons, and serves as a platform for talent development.

“This league builds oneness and keeps players focused. Many players sign contracts through this tournament, so it deserves attention in the national football budget,” he emphasized.

Rep. Dahn urged teams not to restrict players from participating in the district league, asserting that it enhances skill development and provides much-needed match fitness for players who are currently unattached or off-season.

In Thursday’s match, defending champions District #7 came from behind to draw 1-1 with District #1. District #1 took an early lead, but substitute Augustine Dayougar equalized in the 87th minute with a powerful strike from inside the 18-yard box.

The result keeps District #7 at the top of Group C with 4 points and 3 goals from two matches, following their 2-1 win over District #10 in the opening fixture.

After the match, Dayougar appealed to fans and prominent community members to rally behind the team as they prepare to face host District #6next Thursday at the SKD Practice Pitch in Paynesville.
