38 Liberian Health Professionals Depart for China for Public Health Training

MONROVIA – In a move aimed at strengthening Liberia’s healthcare system and enhancing international cooperation, 38 health professionals from the Ministry of Health have departed for China to participate in a two-week seminar focused on public health and health standardization.

The delegation, led by Grand Bassa County Health Officer Dr. Whesseh Jude, includes county health officers, medical directors, senior health administrators, and other key personnel within the health sector.

The seminar is being organized by Hunan International Business Vocational College and will take place in Changsha, the capital of China’s Hunan Province, from June 2 to June 15, 2026.

According to the Ministry of Health, the training program is designed to deepen cooperation between Liberia and China in the field of public health while strengthening health standardization practices and enhancing professional capacity among Liberian health workers.

Participants are expected to engage in knowledge-sharing sessions, practical exchanges, and discussions with Chinese health experts and counterparts.

The program will also provide opportunities to learn best practices and innovative approaches to healthcare management and service delivery.

The Ministry expressed gratitude to the Government and people of China for the opportunity, describing the seminar as an important contribution to Liberia’s efforts to improve healthcare services and build a stronger, more resilient health system.

It further noted that the initiative forms part of the longstanding partnership between Liberia and China in promoting health sector development and human resource capacity building.
