MONROVIA – The Chairman of the Civil Society Group Solidarity & Trust for a New Day Mulbah K. Morlu has accepted the resolution of ‘WE THE PEOPLE’, organizer of the pending July 17 nationwide protest to lead the campaign and ensure a peaceful action that demands better for all Liberians.
The group has accused the Boakai administration of presiding over worsening economic crisis, unchecked corruption, lawlessness, police brutality, and the complete breakdown of the healthcare system, among other urgent national concerns.
They want Chairman Morlu to take the bold leadership in organizing and executing a nonviolent people’s uprising to demand urgent democratic reforms and bring an end to the national suffering under the Joseph Boakai-led administration.
STAND’s Chairman responding to the resolution accepted the charge without hesitation, declaring his commitment to lead the nationwide protest effort.
“We will go to every town, city, district, and village,” he vowed, “and we will awaken the conscience of this nation.” He said in a statement.

Speaking at the event Mr. Morlu announced the immediate launch of a comprehensive nationwide mobilization strategy, pledging to engage citizens in every county to ensure maximum turnout and unity of purpose.
He emphasized that this is not just a protest, but a people’s movement to reclaim democracy, bring down the cost of living, restore dignity to public service, and stop the endless deaths of the poor due to healthcare collapse.
The lead July 17, 2025 protest campaigner also stated that the protest will push for urgent reforms within the civil service sector, emphasizing that no civil servant should earn less than US$500 per month.
