SINOE COUNTY – The Liberia Medical and Dental Council (LMDC) has ordered the immediate closure of Golden Veroleum Liberia (GVL) clinics operating in Butaw, Tarjouwon, and Kpanyan Districts due to multiple violations of national health standards.
In an official statement, the LMDC revealed that the clinics were severely understaffed and operating in facilities that failed to meet the country’s minimum medical infrastructure requirements.
The council also cited GVL’s refusal to comply with previous directives from the regulatory body.
Additional findings included poor hygiene, unsanitary conditions, and an absence of proper waste management systems. The council stated that the facilities posed significant health risks to both patients and medical staff.
As a result, the LMDC has imposed a fine of $15,000 USD per clinic on GVL.
The council also issued a warning that any medical personnel found working at the closed facilities as of June 17, 2025, will face legal consequences.
The LMDC reiterated its call for all healthcare institutions to comply with national standards, emphasizing that patient safety and quality care must remain paramount.
Golden Veroleum Liberia has said it will issue a formal response to the LMDC’s actions.
