Monrovia – The Ministry of Health has bided farewell to a group of seventeen (17) Liberian nurses who departed the country today for a two-year specialized training program at the Kenyatta National Hospital School of Nursing in Nairobi, Kenya.

The training, fully sponsored by the Ministry of Health through the World Bank-funded Institutional Foundations to Improve Services for Health (IFISH) Project and the Health Security Project (HeSP), is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Liberia’s health workforce and expand access to specialized care.

According to the Ministry, the selected nurses hail from public health facilities across the country and will pursue advanced studies in Oncology Nursing, Trauma and Emergency Nursing, Critical Care Nursing, Neonatal Nursing, and Nephrology Nursing.

Upon completion of their studies, the nurses are expected to return to Liberia and serve in key medical institutions, where they will contribute to improving the quality and resilience of the country’s healthcare system.

The Ministry described the initiative as a vital investment in building human resource capacity for health, aimed at ensuring Liberians have access to specialized, high-quality medical care at home rather than abroad.
