Jedea District, Sinoe County – Officers of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) have successfully carried out a major drug bust in the remote Government Camp community of Jedea District, overcoming severe logistical challenges to make two key arrests in an ongoing crackdown on narcotics in Liberia’s rural areas.
The early morning operation, led by Special Agent Milton Kloh Howard, began at approximately 10:15 a.m. Despite limited resources—including no access to vehicles or communication equipment—the LDEA team traveled over rugged terrain using motorbikes to reach the isolated village.
Two Liberian nationals, Beatrice P. Rally (26) and Boston E. Hinneh, were arrested on suspicion of cocaine trafficking. Rally was reportedly found in possession of 45.3 grams of cocaine, valued at approximately USD $220 (L$41,800), while Hinneh had 40 grams, worth USD $216 (L$40,040).
“This operation proves our commitment to protecting the nation from drugs. We may not have everything we need, but we have the will,” said one officer involved in the bust.
Both suspects have been formally charged and transferred to the Greenville City Magisterial Court for prosecution. In line with transparency and public awareness efforts, their photographs were released following the arrests.
Community leaders praised the bravery and persistence of the LDEA officers.
“These agents are doing God’s work. They are saving our children from destruction,” said an elder from the Government Camp community.
As drug-related activities increasingly spread to hard-to-reach regions, the LDEA has vowed to step up its enforcement operations across the country. Special Agent Howard issued a stern warning to traffickers:
“If you’re in the drug business, expect us—whether we come by bike, truck, or even on foot.”
This successful bust is being hailed as a significant victory in the fight against narcotics and a powerful message that no area is beyond the reach of the law.
