Changsha, China – A delegation of Liberian media professionals has officially commenced participation in the Seminar on Media Communication Capacity for Liberia, hosted by the Hunan International Business Vocational College in collaboration with the Chinese Embassy near Monrovia.

The opening ceremony took place in the vibrant city of Changsha, marking a significant milestone in strengthening media cooperation and cultural exchange between Liberia and the People’s Republic of China.

Speaking on behalf of the Liberian delegation, Nyantee Togba, who serves as the participant representative, delivered an inspiring keynote address at the ceremony.

Togba expressed deep gratitude to the organizers for what he described as a “remarkable opportunity” to engage with China’s rich culture and advanced communication practices.

Changsha: A City of Culture and Innovation

The setting for the seminar, Changsha—a city renowned for its historical depth and progressive spirit—was praised by Togba as an inspiring environment for media learning and cultural immersion.

“As a key center of culture, the city embodies values of perseverance, integrity, and responsibility—values that deeply resonate with the calling of journalism and public communication,” he noted.

Strengthening Media and Development Synergies

The seminar will cover a range of topics including China’s economic reforms, political evolution, poverty alleviation efforts, and modernization strategies.

Participants will also gain exposure to China-Africa cooperation frameworks, offering insights that could inform development reporting and communication strategies in Liberia.

Togba underscored the timeliness of the seminar, given the evolving role of media in Liberia and the increasing demand for credible and development-focused storytelling.

“These lessons will provide us with a broader perspective on international development and the vital role of media in telling transformative stories,” he said.

Celebrating Bilateral Ties

Reflecting on the strong diplomatic ties between Liberia and China, Togba acknowledged Liberia’s continued support for the One China Policy and the tangible benefits that cooperation has brought to Liberians.
