Maryland Residents Demand Clarity Over Sudden Hike in Transit Fares

MARYLAND COUNTY Residents of Maryland County are calling on the National Transit Authority (NTA) to provide a clear and public explanation for the recent increase in transportation fares.

Initially, the NTA announced that travel from Maryland to Monrovia would cost 3,500 Liberian dollars.

However, that fare was unexpectedly raised to 4,500 Liberian dollars, a decision that has sparked confusion, frustration, and growing concern among commuters.

Many residents say the fare hike was made without proper communication or justification.

“How did they even go about increasing the fare?” one commuter asked. “It was better at 3,500 Liberian dollars instead of 4,500. They have to explain to us.”

The fare increase comes at a time when many Liberians are already grappling with economic hardships, making transportation costs a sensitive issue for families, workers, and students.

In response to the sudden change, passengers are urging the NTA to reconsider and reverse the fare hike, calling for a return to the original 3,500 Liberian dollar rate.

They are also demanding greater transparency in the NTA’s decision-making process moving forward.

As of now, the NTA has not issued any formal statement addressing the concerns or explaining the reasons behind the fare adjustment.
