Shock Exit: Blackman Warriors Coach Quits Days Before CAF Clash

By: Perry B. Zordyu

MONROVIA – Liberia’s First Division side, Blackman Warriors, have suffered a major setback ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup return leg, as head coach Sam Chebli has resigned.

Chebli’s decision follows the team’s goalless draw against Coton Sports FC of Benin in the Preliminary Round on Sunday at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville.

According to Sports Director Julius Jay Kwateh, the coach stepped down after facing criticism from some club officials over the result.

However, Chebli cited the club’s failure to provide the player reinforcements he had requested before the competition as a key reason for his departure.

His sudden resignation leaves the Warriors in limbo just days before the crucial second-leg clash. The club’s leadership is still in discussions, and no interim replacement has been announced.
