Monrovia – Solidarity and Trust for a New Day (STAND) has commended Liberia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sara Beysolow Nyanti, and the Boakai-led administration for what it described as a “landmark diplomatic breakthrough,” following the United States Government’s decision to extend visa validity for Liberian travelers from 12 months to 36 months.
The policy adjustment, recently confirmed by U.S. authorities, represents one of the most significant improvements in U.S.–Liberia relations in recent years.
Under the new arrangement, Liberian travelers will now enjoy multiple entries into the United States over a three-year period without repeated renewals, easing travel for business, education, and family purposes.
In a statement released Wednesday, STAND hailed the decision as a direct result of Minister Nyanti’s effective diplomacy, visionary leadership, and tireless commitment to advancing Liberia’s global interests.
“This decision affirms that Liberia’s voice is once again being heard on the world stage,” said STAND Chairman Mulbah K. Morlu, Jr. “Minister Nyanti’s proactive diplomacy and the government’s strategic engagement with Washington have produced a result that will directly benefit thousands of Liberians — students, entrepreneurs, and families alike.”
STAND also commended President Joseph Nyuma Boakai for empowering his foreign policy team to restore Liberia’s international credibility through constructive engagement and transparent diplomacy.
The group extended appreciation to the United States Government for recognizing Liberia as a trusted partner and for deepening bilateral cooperation through this new visa policy.
According to STAND, the updated U.S. visa reciprocity schedule will strengthen people-to-people ties, expand trade and investment opportunities, and promote educational exchanges between the two countries.
“This new chapter in U.S.–Liberia relations reflects a renewed era of fairness, respect, and partnership,” STAND said.
The organization further noted that the development follows Minister Nyanti’s recent high-level meetings in Washington, D.C., aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing Liberia’s diplomatic influence.
“This milestone reflects the professionalism, discipline, and credibility that Minister Nyanti has brought to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” the statement continued. “It demonstrates how purposeful diplomacy can yield tangible results that improve the lives of ordinary Liberians.”
STAND expressed confidence that under Minister Nyanti’s stewardship, Liberia’s foreign policy will continue to deliver meaningful results that enhance the country’s image abroad and improve the welfare of its citizens at home.
