Dagoseh Denies Corruption Claims, Says LACC Has Not Opened Probe

NATIONAL NEWS

Monrovia Liberia’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Magdalene Ellen Dagoseh, has denied reports circulating on social media linking her to corruption allegations, stating that she is not under investigation by the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC).

In a statement issued late Tuesday, Minister Dagoseh said she has received no formal communication from the LACC and is unaware of being the subject of any investigation.

“I have received no communication from the LACC regarding any investigation, and I am not aware of being under investigation,” the minister said.

Dagoseh dismissed the allegations as unfounded and stressed that if the LACC required her engagement on any matter, the Commission would formally notify her office. She emphasized that she remains focused on her responsibilities and continues to serve without distraction.

“I remain fully focused on my duties as Minister of Commerce in service to the people of Liberia,” she added.

The Minister also urged the public to rely on official communications from relevant institutions for accurate information, reiterating that she has no connection to the claims circulating online.

However, Liberia Excellent News Network (LENN) has obtained a communication from the LACC confirming that it has received and reviewed a petition filed against the Minister. The petition, submitted on January 14, 2026, under the banner of the Democratic Movement for Transparency, Accountability and Good Governance, calls on the Commission to investigate allegations of asset accumulation purportedly inconsistent with Dagoseh’s official income.

In a letter dated January 21, 2026, the LACC confirmed that the petition has been forwarded to its Monitoring and Investigation Department for further action.

The Commission assured the public that the matter will be handled impartially and in line with its statutory mandate.

LACC’s Communication

According to the petition, Minister Dagoseh is alleged to have acquired several high-value properties within a year of assuming office.

Background

The petition was formally filed at the LACC headquarters in Monrovia by Victor G. Flomo and P. Maxwell Vah, who identified themselves as members of the Democratic Movement for Transparency, Accountability and Good Governance, a civil society organization advocating integrity in public service.

Speaking after filing the complaint, Flomo and Vah said their action was motivated by concerns over alleged discrepancies between the Minister’s declared income and assets reportedly acquired within a short period. They maintained that the petition is not politically motivated, but rather a civic effort aimed at promoting accountability, transparency, and public trust in government institutions.

The petitioners also disclosed that they have assembled documents and other supporting materials, which they said would be made available to investigators to assist the Commission’s due diligence process.

As the investigation process moves forward, the LACC has called for public restraint, emphasizing that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven otherwise.
