Also accompanying the delegation is Deputy Press Director Siafa Jallah.

Upon arrival, the Liberian officials were received by representatives of Morocco’s House of Councillors of Morocco, along with Liberia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Morocco, Joseph F. Johnson.

The conference, scheduled for April 8–9, 2026, will convene presidents of upper chambers from 25 African parliaments.

Discussions are expected to focus on the role of second legislative chambers in strengthening democratic institutions and sustaining peace across the continent.

Participants will also explore avenues for deeper interparliamentary collaboration in addressing governance challenges facing African states.

A key outcome of the gathering will be the adoption of the “Rabat Declaration,” a framework document intended to outline shared commitments among African senates on democracy, stability, and institutional cooperation.

Organisers say the declaration will serve as a guiding instrument for reinforcing the relevance of upper chambers in modern democratic systems.

Liberia’s participation in the conference highlights its continued engagement in regional and continental dialogue on governance and peacebuilding.

Senate officials say the country remains committed to strengthening democratic practices and fostering cooperation with other African legislatures through platforms such as the Association of African Senates.
