NIMBA COUNTY – A truck reportedly belonging to Capital Link Corporation, a Lebanese-owned company operating out of the Port of Buchanan in Grand Bassa County, has been involved in a tragic road accident that claimed the lives of three street loaders in Ganta, Nimba County.

The fatal incident occurred along the Ganta–Saclepea Highway near CMC Junction in District #8.

According to reports, the truck, bearing license plate TR 0001, was transporting approximately 800 bags of cement from Buchanan to Bahn City in District #7 when the accident happened.

The vehicle was driven by Saa, a newly recruited employee who was reportedly on his first assignment.

Authorities say the three victims, informal street loaders known for assisting with the offloading of cement trucks in Ganta and nearby communities, had been engaged by company representatives to accompany the truck and help unload the cargo upon arrival in Bahn.

Eyewitnesses claim the driver, believed to be unfamiliar with the route, lost control of the truck while allegedly using his mobile phone. The vehicle reportedly veered off the highway and plunged into a nearby valley.

Saa sustained severe injuries and was initially rushed for medical attention before being transferred to a hospital in Monrovia, where he remains in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the three deceased loaders have been deposited at the Gompa Funeral Home.

The incident has once again drawn attention to the risks faced by informal laborers who routinely ride on commercial trucks in search of work, often under unsafe conditions.
