GRAND GEDEH COUNTY – A serious road accident along the boundary between Grand Gedeh and River Gee Counties has left multiple passengers severely injured. The accident occurred early Tuesday morning near the Putu Pennonkon boundary line, a key transit corridor reportedly worsened by heavy seasonal rains.

According to preliminary eyewitness accounts, a commercial transport vehicle carrying passengers and market goods lost traction while navigating a deeply eroded and muddy section of the unpaved roadway.
The vehicle reportedly veered off the main track before overturning into a ditch, trapping several passengers inside.
Local commuters and nearby residents quickly rushed to the scene, helping to pull injured victims from the wreckage and provide initial assistance.
Emergency response efforts have reportedly been severely hampered by the difficult condition of the highway corridor, making access challenging for ambulances and rescue teams traveling from the provincial capitals of Zwedru and Fish Town.
Several survivors are said to have sustained deep lacerations, fractured limbs, and other serious injuries.
Due to the limited access to the area, injured passengers are reportedly being transported by commercial motorbikes and high-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicles to nearby health facilities in Putu and Kanweaken for treatment.
The accident has renewed concerns about the deteriorating condition of rural roads in southeastern Liberia, particularly during the rainy season, when heavily eroded and muddy roadways can pose serious risks to commuters and significantly delay emergency medical assistance.
