MONROVIA – In a vibrant push to elevate tennis in Liberia, Youth for Tennis, in collaboration with the U.S.-based Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) Foundation, has launched a groundbreaking tennis program at Life International School in Logan Town.
The initiative is poised to broaden access to the sport and lay the groundwork for a new generation of tennis talent.
Alfred Kandarkai, internationally certified tennis coach and CEO of Youth for Tennis, emphasized the program’s goal of instilling a solid foundation of tennis skills in students from an early age.
“Introducing tennis at a young age doesn’t just build physical fitness—it sharpens mental agility and fosters discipline,” Kandarkai said.
He also called for the sport to be formally integrated into Liberia’s national Physical Education curriculum at the secondary level, citing its potential to shape young minds through improved focus, discipline, and critical thinking.
Life International School is now among the select few institutions in Liberia to offer tennis as part of its extracurricular activities—and notably, it is the first to benefit from the Televise Tennis initiative.
This innovative feature allows students to watch curated tennis highlights during free periods, turning leisure time into engaging visual learning opportunities.
Eunice Kota, Head Administrator of Life International School, celebrated the partnership. “This program is a major milestone for our school,” she said. “It will deepen our students’ understanding and appreciation of the sport.”
Among the students embracing the program is Princess Gee, who already has a year of experience on the court. “This is an exciting opportunity for those of us who love tennis,” she shared. “It gives us a chance to grow in the game and inspire others to join us.”
With rackets in hand and a passion for progress, the students of Life International School are stepping onto the court—and into a future filled with possibility.
