Temple of Justice – A procurement contractor working with the Ministry of Agriculture has been charged with statutory rape and remanded to the Monrovia Central Prison, following police investigations into the alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl.
The suspect, identified as Sando S. Kromah, was arrested after the Liberia National Police’s (LNP) Women and Children Protection Section conducted several days of inquiry into the case.
Authorities said the incident reportedly occurred in Vai Town, Monrovia.
According to investigators, Kromah is accused of sexually abusing the minor, an act considered statutory rape under Liberia’s rape law due to the victim being under the age of consent.
On Wednesday, Kromah was formally charged and turned over to the Monrovia City Court, where a judge ordered his incarceration pending trial.
The case adds to growing public concern about sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) in Liberia, which remains one of the country’s most pressing human rights and law enforcement challenges.
