The team reviewed the company’s environmental permits, operational activities, and compliance measures, confirming that all key licenses and permits were valid and up to date.
The EPA also commended the company for resuming operations, noting that the restart has contributed to job creation and increased economic activity in the area.
Observations on Environmental Management
Inspectors observed progress in environmental management practices at the mining site, indicating improvements in compliance systems and operational oversight.
However, the assessment raised concerns over workplace safety after several workers were observed without proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
The company was advised to strengthen safety enforcement measures, register its wave blasting activities, and improve water treatment systems prior to discharge.
The EPA stated its continued commitment to ensuring that mining operations across Liberia comply with environmental regulations and maintain sustainable mining practices nationwide.
