Monrovia The Ministry of Health has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Liberia Global Health & Surgery Consortium (LGHSC) aimed at strengthening surgical and diagnostic services across the country.

The agreement, signed under the leadership of Health Minister Dr. Louise M. Kpoto, is expected to significantly expand access to specialized medical care, including cardiothoracic surgery, women’s health services, anesthesia, pathology, and digital health innovations.

The LGHSC is led by Dr. Carolyn Baindu Moore, whose team brings together global medical expertise to support Liberia’s healthcare system.

Through the partnership, both institutions will work to train and empower health workers, improve access to essential medical equipment, and establish sustainable systems designed to enhance patient safety and health outcomes nationwide.

Officials say the collaboration goes beyond service delivery, placing strong emphasis on capacity building and long-term sustainability within Liberia’s health sector.

The Ministry of Health described the agreement as a powerful demonstration of the role the Liberian diaspora can play in national development, particularly by bridging international expertise with local healthcare needs.

Health authorities believe the partnership will help ensure that high-quality surgical and diagnostic care becomes more accessible to Liberians, not only in the short term but for generations to come.
