Liberia Albino Society Identifies with Two Members Nursing Injuries

MONROVIA – The Liberia Albino Society, a minority group in the country which has complained of marginalization, has identified with two of its members who recently suffered severe injuries.

One of the victims, Massuppee Dorley was involved in a tragic car crash which according to her led to a major injury on her ribs while victim Mawataa Kamara suffered a broken leg as a result of a motorbike accident.

Both victims benefited from food and non-food items including cash from the Executive Director of the Liberia Albino Society Madame Patricia Logan.

The donation of food and non-food items including cash is part of the institution’s welfare drive strategy to aid striving members in times of catastrophe.

The beneficiaries received one bag of rice each, one gallons of cooking oil separately, and other provisions including an undisclosed cash package among others.

While donating the items, Liberia Albino Society Executive Director Patrica Logan described the move as a demonstration of the love and care she has for members of the minority group especially following their involvements with car and motorbike accidents recently.

According to her, welfare and genuine advocacy for her members continue to be the heart of her leadership.

Madame Logan assured the two victims of the accidents that the Liberia Albino Society share their pains and is committed to rendering other assistance as they undergo their respective treatments.

Mssuppee Dorley, one of the victims was involved in a tragic car crash which led her to sustaining severe injury on her ribs.

Ms. Droley is advised by Doctors to seek advanced medical treatment abroad but has been unable to leave the country due to lack of funds for her travels and medical bills.

“I sometimes feel fine and later on, I feel uncomfortable “, she cried out.

Massapee and her family, who appreciated the Liberia Albino Society for the timely intervention to her health, appealed to others to extend financial aid which will enable her to seek advance medical treatment for the injury.

As for Mawataa Kamara, the motorbike accident which led to a broken leg has forced her to stay away from school for months. Mawatta is one of the beneficiaries of the LAS scholarship.

Speaking shortly after the presentation, Mawatta’s brother, Ansu Kamara thanked the Albino Society for the gesture and said his family has been a long time member of Liberia Albino Society and remains grateful for the institution’s continuous support.

“I was on the LAS scholarship from grade school and I am in the University, a junior student now”, I am grateful, he added.

He explained that the biker rider who ran into his little one has shown some concern and has been very supportive.

The LAS Executive Director was accompanied by the Director of Media Ezekiel Klah, Dorcas Gborkorquellie, Director of Welfare among others.

Meanwhile, the two beneficiaries received two bags of rice, one each, two gallons of igo oil, one each, other home provisions including undisclosed cash packages among others.
