Monrovia – The Liberia Old-Timers Kickball Association, through its Executive Committee, has announced the suspension of two of its senior officials: Mr. S. Josephus Torjilor, Vice President for Operations, and Mr. Megistus Kulie, General Secretary.
According to an official release, the suspension was triggered by the officials’ alleged refusal to attend meetings, abandonment of duties, and other related concerns.
The association’s president, Mr. Christopher F. Nylander, disclosed that both officials will serve a two-year suspension, during which they will remain ineligible for reinstatement. He also cautioned the public against conducting any official business with the suspended individuals during this period.
However, in response, Mr. Megistus Kulie dismissed the suspension as “a mere bluff,” claiming it lacked legal basis and reflected growing mistrust within the association.
“The president does not have the legitimate authority to suspend any official without the full participation and consensus of the Executive Committee,” Mr. Kulie argued.
He further criticized the decision, urging the association to shift its focus toward preparing for upcoming national kickball events rather than engaging in what he described as socially and politically motivated internal disputes.
“We should be working to elevate the image of the association we all fought to build, not tearing it down,” he said.
Mr. Kulie also called on the President of the Liberia Kickball Federation, Mr. Emmanuel Surprise Whea, to intervene and resolve the growing tensions. He warned President Nylander to refrain from making what he called “unauthorized and damaging statements” that could harm the reputation of others.
The unfolding dispute has raised concerns within the local kickball community, with many calling for mediation to preserve unity ahead of major sporting activities.
