Monrovia — In a significant step toward enhancing economic collaboration between the United States and Liberia, Ambassador Mark Toner participated in the “Strengthening U.S.–Liberia Trade and Investment” panel hosted at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The panel was a key feature of the three-day Bridge to Prosperity trade mission, a landmark initiative spearheaded by Ambassador Isaac E. Taggart, Jr., CEO of Bridge to Prosperity and Liberia’s Special Envoy for U.S. Trade and Investment.
This groundbreaking mission brought together 20 high-level delegates representing 18 U.S.-based companies operating across critical sectors such as agriculture, mining, sanitation, infrastructure, logistics, and technology.
The initiative aims to cultivate meaningful commercial ties and promote Liberia as a viable destination for strategic investment.
During his remarks, Ambassador Toner emphasized the evolving nature of U.S.-Africa relations, stating:
“Under the Trump Administration, we want to see our bilateral relationship move from one based on assistance to a partnership based on economic development and international investment.
We are making a clear shift: from aid to trade, and we are engaging African nations not as aid recipients, but as capable commercial partners.”
The trade mission serves as a catalyst for forging sustainable business opportunities, encouraging joint ventures, and showcasing Liberia’s untapped economic potential.
By convening leaders from both nations, Bridge to Prosperity is laying the foundation for long-term partnerships grounded in mutual growth and prosperity.
