Speaking over the weekend during a ceremony marking the groundbreaking and dedication of the party’s refurbished headquarters in Buchanan, Senator Karnga-Lawrence said the new facility will comprise five buildings and is expected to cost nearly US$400,000. She said the party plans to complete the project within one year.

“What we are doing in Grand Bassa County is not just going to be in Grand Bassa County. We are here in Grand Bassa County today because this is the base. Every political party has a base,” Karnga-Lawrence said.

She added that while the Liberty Party has a national headquarters in Montserrado County, Grand Bassa deserves a major facility because of its historical importance to the party.

According to the Liberty Party leader, nearly US$100,000 in cash and materials has already been raised toward the project, even at the groundbreaking stage.

The Pro-Tempore said additional commitments have also been made to support the construction, expressing confidence that the facility will become one of the largest political movement centers in the county.

Karnga-Lawrence said the planned headquarters will serve purposes beyond partisan politics, emphasizing that the party intends to use the facility as a center for empowerment. “Not only for politics, but for empowerment,” she said, while urging partisans and supporters to contribute to the project through volunteerism and other forms of support.

The Senate Pro-Tempore also used the occasion to call for greater loyalty, unity, and discipline among Liberty Party members as the party undergoes a rebranding process. She said Grand Bassa County has remained a stronghold for the Liberty Party, noting that the party has consistently won the county even when it failed to secure victory in presidential elections.

“In this county, the Liberty Party has never lost,” Karnga-Lawrence said. “If you believe in your party, if you believe in your leaders, you will always wait for their direction.” She stressed that members should remain guided by official party policies and leadership decisions, particularly when the leadership has not yet announced a position on an issue.

The Liberty Party leader also reflected on her political journey, highlighting what she described as her continued loyalty to the party despite opportunities to join other political organizations and pursue government appointments.

She welcomed returning partisans and new members, calling on them to work collectively to make the Liberty Party “second to none.”

Karnga-Lawrence said preparations for construction of the new headquarters are expected to begin next week, with party engineers set to develop the construction plan. She encouraged partisans in Grand Bassa and beyond to volunteer and contribute to the initiative, saying the project represents a broader effort to rebuild and strengthen the party’s organizational structures.

She further expressed confidence that within one year or less, Liberty Party members and supporters in Grand Bassa County will have a major facility that will not only support the party’s political activities but also contribute to the empowerment of citizens and the strengthening of the party’s grassroots organization.
