GRAND BASSA – Margibi County Senator Nathaniel F. McGill of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) has described Grand Bassa County as a key battleground ahead of the 2029 general elections, urging party supporters and leaders to strengthen grassroots structures to improve the party’s electoral chances.

Speaking during a brief interaction with CDC supporters on Friday, Senator McGill said Grand Bassa would play a decisive role in the party’s efforts to return to power. “Bassa is a strategic county. If we have to win the election in 2029, we got to win Bassa big. Everybody sees what’s happening in the country; I don’t have to talk about it,” he said.
The Margibi lawmaker also stressed the importance of strong leadership within the party, stating that the effectiveness of any political party depends on its leadership. “The strength of any party is the leadership,” McGill told supporters.
He encouraged CDC officials and leaders to return to their respective communities and establish stronger grassroots networks by organizing community structures. According to him, each block should have at least 30 party officials working to mobilize residents and strengthen the party’s presence.
McGill further emphasized that the CDC should remain people-centered, noting that “the party got to belong to the people,” as he called for greater community engagement ahead of the next election cycle.
The senator made the remarks before attending the birthday celebration of Senate Pro-Tempore Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, where he had been officially invited as a guest.
