According to an investigation conducted by the Ministry, there were significant failures in child protection obligations within the school environment.

The Ministry said, although the Catholic School Secretariat sent representatives to a meeting convened to address the issue, no administrators from St. Teresa Convent Catholic School attended.

The Ministry said the absence of the school’s officials raised concerns about compliance with established regulations.

As part of its sanctions, the Ministry has imposed a fine of LRD 500,000 on the institution, payable within fourteen days.

It also announced that disciplinary proceedings will be initiated against administrators and teachers who supervised the event, requiring them to demonstrate accountability through concrete corrective actions.

In addition, the Ministry has banned the artist known as “Christoph the Change” from performing at any school-related events for the remainder of the current academic year.

The school administration has further been directed to issue a formal apology and submit a corrective action plan addressing the incident.

The Ministry also disclosed that coordinated counseling services for affected students, along with structured engagement with parents, will be carried out through the Montserrado County Education Office.

The Ministry emphasized that student safety and proper supervision remain paramount responsibilities for all educational institutions, warning that violations will attract appropriate legal and administrative consequences.

Artist Responds

In response to the Ministry’s decision, the performer, known publicly as Christoph the Change, acknowledged the ban and expressed remorse.

“A while ago, the Ministry of Education – Liberia finally communicated its decision to impose a nationwide prohibition on my performance at school-related events for the duration of the current academic year,” he stated. “This action stems from the unfortunate incident that took place on February 7th at the St. Teresa Convent School campus.”

He added, “I respect the Ministry’s decision and am grateful for the opportunity to take this time to reflect. I want to reiterate my sincere apologies once again to the students, staff, parents, and everyone who were offended by my actions.”
