MONROVIA – The newly appointed Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Ambassador to Liberia, Mohamed Konneh, has praised Liberia for its longstanding leadership in promoting peace, democracy and sustainable development across the West African sub-region.

Ambassador Konneh said Liberia continues to play a strategic role in advancing good governance, regional security and integration, describing the country as an important partner within the ECOWAS community.
The ECOWAS envoy made the remarks on Wednesday after presenting his Letter of Credence to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai at the Executive Mansion in Monrovia, officially marking the commencement of his diplomatic mission in Liberia.
Presenting his credentials, Ambassador Konneh reaffirmed ECOWAS’ commitment to strengthening its partnership with Liberia and pledged to work closely with the Boakai administration in advancing the objectives of the regional bloc.
“I know Liberia has a special place in the history of ECOWAS,” Ambassador Konneh said. “As a continent and as a region, we admire the leadership of Liberia in governance, in security and regional integration.”
He noted that his mission would align with ECOWAS’ vision as the regional organization celebrates its 50th anniversary, while supporting efforts to promote peace, security, good governance and deeper regional integration.
“In line with the ECOWAS 50th anniversary and the objectives of regional integration, peace, security and good governance, and in line with the Government of Liberia’s ARREST Agenda, I am grateful and I promise that I will work closely with your government to ensure that we uphold the good image and responsibilities of ECOWAS,” he said.
The ambassador also expressed goodwill on behalf of himself, his family and the ECOWAS Commission.
“On behalf of myself, my family and ECOWAS, I raise a toast to your good health, the prosperity and unity of Liberia, and the people of Liberia,” Konneh added.
The presentation of Ambassador Konneh’s Letter of Credence formally signifies the beginning of his diplomatic assignment in Liberia and underscores ECOWAS’ continued commitment to deepening cooperation with the Liberian Government in the areas of governance, regional security, economic integration and sustainable development.
