MONROVIA — The Center for Rehabilitation & Reintegration (CFRR) has announced the receipt of a $10,000 USD grant from the Gbowee Peace Foundation Africa’s Sentheyee Fund, a transformative initiative backed by a $20 million commitment from philanthropist Melinda French Gates.
The grant recognizes CFRR’s pioneering efforts in rehabilitating women affected by drug addiction and substance abuse in Liberia.
The Sentheyee Fund, established in 2024, aims to support grassroots organizations working to advance women’s health and well-being across Africa.
CFRR’s selection as a grantee highlights the organization’s steadfast commitment to trauma-informed recovery and its focus on empowering vulnerable women through comprehensive rehabilitation services.
“This generous grant will enable us to expand and renovate our current facility in Monrovia, significantly increasing our capacity to support more women in need of critical care,” said a spokesperson for CFRR. “With this funding, we can welcome more female clients into our residential programs and provide life-changing services that promote healing, resilience, and reintegration.”
CFRR is a registered non-profit organization operating in both Liberia and the United States since 2021.
Its mission centers on offering holistic rehabilitation services—including detoxification, psychotherapy, counseling, and outreach—to help women overcome addiction and rebuild their lives with dignity and purpose.
The organization extended its heartfelt gratitude to Nobel Laureate Leymah Gbowee, the Gbowee Peace Foundation Africa, and the Melinda Gates Foundation for their belief in CFRR’s mission and their support in building a more compassionate, inclusive future for women in recovery.
“This partnership strengthens our resolve to continue addressing the complex challenges faced by women affected by substance abuse and to create sustainable pathways to recovery and reintegration,” the statement continued.
As the organization moves forward with its infrastructure expansion, CFRR reaffirms its dedication to transparency, accountability, and the long-term well-being of the women it serves.
