MONROVIA – Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung has issued a strong public statement in reaction to a viral video involving a man believe to be his staff member and officers of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), stressing that no one connected to him will be shielded from prosecution if found involved in drug-related activities.
In the video it is claimed that the man who allegedly bear an ID Card from the office of VP, had gone to reportedly bribe the LDEA officers to release a drug suspect.
In a firm tone, the Vice President said his attention had been drawn to the video circulating online and used the moment to clarify his uncompromising stance on drug crimes.
“Let me state this with absolute clarity and without contradiction: Anyone, and I mean anyone, connected to me by whatsoever means—whether by blood, by marriage, by employment, or by friendship—who engages in drug-related activities will face the full weight of the law,” Koung declared.
He emphasized that no personal or familial ties would influence the legal process, stating:
“Whether it is my wife, my children, my siblings, or anyone linked to my office, the law will take its course without hesitation and without interference.”
The Vice President’s comments come amid growing public concern over the spread of narcotics in Liberia and ongoing government efforts to strengthen the fight against illicit drugs.
Koung’s statement signals a clear message of accountability and reinforces the administration’s public stance against shielding government affiliates from prosecution.
